About the event
Participants in this workshop will learn how to create safe spaces for online trauma work  by creating a safe space together in our workshop! Â
We will consider many facets of offering trauma safe sessions including:
- procedural ways to create safety well before the session happens
- the practitioner's physical space
- zoom/video settings and considerations
- cultural and environmental considerations
- creating internal safety for the practitioner
- obtaining and honoring consent and autonomy
- creating sociometric connections that help group members feel more included and validated
- pacing and timing of a session
- what it means to "hold space"
- recognizing and managing dissociation (if time - see Demystifying Dissociation workshop for in-depth strategies for this)
- providing closure
Participants should be willing and able to arrive on time and attend the entire session with camera on and ready to participate. Â There will be one 10minute break built into the structure of the workshop. Â The Learning Lab is not equipped to provide CEs - these workshops are designed to provide deeply enriching professional development experiences.
